God’s Word was the only thing that could rescue me from my place of brokenness. However, getting to the point where I understood and thirsted for God’s Word was a journey in and of itself. Before I experienced true revelation, I felt unqualified, incapable, and essentially useless to God’s kingdom. I felt I had no connection to the promises made in God’s Word, as if they weren’t personally written for me. Does that sound familiar?
Satan, is to “blind the minds of unbelievers” so that they cannot see God’s light (2 Corinthians 4:4). So then, what does our enemy do if we are a believer and we do possess the ability to see God’s light? He tries anything and everything to get us to never invest time into reading our Bibles—he causes us to question our identity in Christ, tries to make us feel like God’s promises are for everyone else except for us, and he even tries to deactivate our faith in God’s Word! For we know that “faith comes from hearing and hearing God’s Word” and “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Romans 10:17; Hebrews 11:6). Hebrews 11:6 goes on to say that “we come to God in faith knowing that He is real and that He rewards the faith of those who give all their passion and strength into seeking Him” (TPT).
And in the midst of translations, skepticism, and the evil forces assigned to deter us from God’s path for our life, we can become extremely lost, dazed, and confused. But why does Satan do this? Because the truths we find in God’s Word become tangible power for us once our faith is activated—making us more prepared, equipped, and dangerous to Satan’s kingdom of darkness. Unfortunately, a lot of believers fall into the trap of not reading and meditating upon God’s Word for themselves. The excuses range from being too busy, too distracted, or simply too bored. Whatever the setback is, Satan doesn’t care—as long as you aren’t tapping into what God has for you.
The Finding Hope Devotional is a project God birthed in my heart after the journey began to heal from my second sexual assault. I knew I needed more than just to hold, know, and read the Word of God—I knew I needed to be held captive by it and the only way I could become a captive of grace was to make it personal to me. After I was truly able to say God’s Word was for me, I felt a burden in my spirit for those who felt God’s Word wasn’t written personally for them. Thus, The Finding Hope Devotional was born.
He wants to reach the depths of your heart and penetrate the darkest places inside of you until you become a pure reflection of His glorious life-giving light! It’s not by chance that you're on this page—it’s by God’s design. The Bible is the only book in which the Author is present whenever it is read so don’t be afraid to ask God questions on your journey. God is not a faraway God! He is the God who is near (Elohay Mikarov), the God who sees (El Roi), and the God who is with us (Immanuel).
Join me on this journey as we find hope for our lives through God’s unfailing Word—right here, right now. There is power in speaking God’s Word so say this aloud, regardless of where you are in this moment:
God’s promises are TO me.
God’s love is FOR me.
God’s hand is ON me.
