alora & amber began quietly, from a love of beautiful fragrance and a desire to be more thoughtful about what we bring close to our bodies. Each fragrance is blended with jojoba oil and carefully chosen natural essential oils or cosmetic-grade fragrance oils selected to be free from sulfates, phthalates, parabens, and acetone. The formulas are intentionally simple, created to feel beautiful, luxurious, and worthy of becoming part of your everyday ritual.

But its story is about more than fragrance. After my own journey with endometriosis, I wanted to create something beautiful from a story that has held both pain and hope. The name Alora is the name my husband and I have chosen for a future daughter, making this little collection deeply personal to me. Endometriosis can affect so much more than physical health. For many women, it can touch fertility, relationships, work, dreams, and the way we experience our own bodies. alora & amber was created as a small way to hold space for those stories while creating something beautiful along the way.

why what we carry matters.

My journey toward more intentional fragrance began with my own journey with stage four endometriosis: frozen pelvis. Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent disease, and after learning more about the ways our everyday environment can interact with our hormones, I began looking much more closely at what I was bringing into my home and putting on my body. I learned about endocrine-disrupting chemicals, substances that can interfere with the body's natural hormone signaling. Some can mimic hormones such as estrogen, while others may block or alter normal hormone activity. Research continues to explore the relationship between these exposures and endometriosis, including associations with certain endocrine-disrupting chemicals. That became especially meaningful to me because endometriosis can recur even after surgery.

After everything my body had been through, I wanted to focus on what was within my control. I couldn't eliminate every exposure, and I didn't want to build a life around being afraid of everything around me. But I could learn more. I could read labels. I could make thoughtful swaps where they made sense for me. And, sometimes, I could simply make things myself so I knew exactly what went into them. So, little by little, I began changing what we used throughout our home. I started looking more carefully at my cosmetics and personal-care products, lotions, perfumes and shower gels, candles and home fragrance, car fragrances, wall plug-ins, plastics and food packaging, detergents, household cleaners, and other products we encountered every day.

And then I started making things.

I began making my own everyday cleaning products and antibacterial cleaners, so I could choose what went into the products I was spraying around our home. I started making body oils, including blends for my husband, which eventually helped inspire a men's fragrance collection. I began experimenting with candles, paying attention not only to the fragrance itself but also to the wax and fragrance materials I was burning in our home. I made my own car diffusers, too, because I wanted the same intentionality in the little spaces we spend so much time in.

And, eventually, I started making my own perfume oils. Fragrance was something I simply didn't want to give up. I love things that smell beautiful. I love a home that smells beautiful. I love putting on a fragrance that makes me feel like myself. Becoming more ingredient-conscious made me want to understand fragrance better, not stop enjoying it. At first, these little creations were simply for us. But somewhere between blending oils for myself, making body oils for my husband, experimenting with scents for our cars and home, and slowly transforming the products we used every day, alora & amber began to take shape. I started thinking about other women doing the same thing. The women reading labels. The women making little swaps. The women navigating endometriosis and other hormone-related concerns. The women who simply want to be more conscious of what they bring into their homes and close to their bodies. And I decided to share a small part of what I had been creating.

For now, alora & amber offers our perfume oils and car diffusers, thoughtfully created from the same desire that started all of this: to know more about what I'm using, to choose more intentionally, and to make room for beauty along the way.

The candles, cleaning products, body oils, and everything else? Those are still part of what I make and use in our own home. They are part of the story, even if they aren't part of the shop. Because this was never about creating a perfect or completely exposure-free life. Not perfection. Not fear. Just intention. It's about learning more, making the changes that feel meaningful and realistic, and doing what I can to care for my body after everything it has carried. And if something I first created for myself can help another woman feel a little more empowered about what she chooses for herself, that makes this story even more meaningful.
